Jquery Ajax Request with Asp.net Datalist

We'd like to be able to retrieve items from the database and display to the user during a mouse over event of the selected item in a datalist using jquery ajax (similar to the URL: [login to view URL]). So far we have been able to retrieve the data and display to the client but we cannot display it for the particular selected item. Rather the return data is displayed under all the items in the datalist. Assistance is needed on this final piece and also on being able so show the user that data is being loaded. The page where the data is to be displayed is the attached searchresults.aspx. When the mouse is hovered over the class "upperpanel", data is retrieved using jquery ajax, however attempting to display the data using $("lowerpanel","this").html(response.d) for the particular selected item does not work. Quick turnaround is required. Thanks
