I have a local server at my office that i use as ERP server for my company. I have hyper-v with one VM for all services. The main services are the SQL server, IIS and the application server. I have raid-10 with 4 ssd 500gb. I have make a lot of action to try to optimize my server performance. I have set separate disk and raid for the SQL where i have use different allocation size for file system. I have upgrade RAM.
Desides all of these i see a delay on server performance. The cpu is ok and the ram too. I think that there is not proper disk performance on read write. I see that when i try to unzip or copy large files or zip with a lot of files, there is delay in contrast with my PC performance on the same files.
So i need some specialist to find what could be optimized on my server and find if i have make some mistakes. I what a general check on my hyper-v setup, VM setup, raid setup and general optimization. I need help on setup processes that have to be done as resetup of VM , raid etc as im not specialist on that.
Additionally i wand to check my server security for backup, antivirus, firewall etc to optimize the load of the hyper-v.
I separate the project on two phases.
1. Investigation and analysis of the server situation
2. Resolve any mistakes and do optimazations.
My thoughts are complecated as the system is live and work on it all days. So im wondering how could we make any reinstalling or resetup of vms of hyperv.
I can try to investigate VM's performance issues because I have some servers configuration experience along with my main professional expertise in MS SQL Server development. I can take a look before award to be sure that I really can help.
Hi,
I am Data Center expert and have vast experience in managing network and security. I have strong experience in managing VMware virtualization and Hyper v virtualization. I can investigate and resolve your performance issue. please message me.
Hello
My name is Dejan, and I'm Senior System and Network Engineer.
I have a lot of experience with Hyper-V virtualization, and I think I can help you to fix your problem.
Usually problem in Virtualization is not good installed Bare-Metal Hypervisor, but sometimes also known issue is VM.
Frequently I work on live servers and downtime is minimum.
We can discus more in chat.
I will explain my ideas, and ask you few more questions about your infrastructure.
Thank You

Hi,
I have 25 years of broad IT experience including building and tuning high performance systems, Hyper-V and Windows Server.
I have the knowledge and experience to troubleshoot your performance issue and either resolve it or make suggestions on how to resolve it (there may be hardware changes required).
I am available to start work immediately.
I'd be happy to discuss the problem further with you at no charge prior to beginning the engagement.

Hi, just saw your post. Got the following questions for you to help us narrow down where your issue lies:
1. What's the your Hyper-V server hardware (brand and model)?
2. How much memory does your physical server have?
3. What windows server version is your physical server running?
4. What antivirus is your physical server running?
5. What version of Hyper-V are you running?
6. How much memory does your virtual server have?
7. What's the complete list of softwares/services does your virtual machine run?
8. How many computers are currently accessing these services?
9. What antivirus is your virtual server running?
10. What's the backup solution you currently have in place?
Looking forward to your reply.
I am a windows engineer with experience on Hypervisors including Hyper-V. I should be able to run diagnostics check on your Hyper-V server and review configuration to ensure optimisation and good performance. I understand that your Hyper-V server is a live server, I will need access to Hyper-V host where I will need to review/run some tests.
I do not think your problem is regarding with hyper-v or server performance. No need to re-install.
How you see delay? Is it db wait or IIS side?
I can help you to check all system performance. We can do check on weekend, I do not touch anything on your system, just monitor and discussion. I think we will find the solution.
