I have been trying without any luck to get some Visual Basic 6 code working. I would like to hire someone to put together a rough but working skeleton VB6 app. The goal is to display jpg pictures picked from a list in a text file which is the easy part - the difficult part is to have it do the old Metacreation's transitional effects when changing pictures. As these transforms seem to no longer be supported (if ever) by Metacreations, nor can I find any company that currently sells or supports them. I am stuck without any documentation on their syntax. I do have access to the DLL file ([login to view URL]) - here - [login to view URL] is a link to download same - as you would need the file to incorporate in the program. Also at that link is a demo of one transform (Twister) done in Internet Explorer. More and Better demos of what the effects do can be found at this site for one. [login to view URL] I can get it working in a web page doing any of the effects between two images. The goal is to do it in Visual Basic 6 (perhaps I could live with [login to view URL]) and to do the show onward beyond just two images and to be able to switch effects being used on the fly. The main effects I would like to use in order of importance include; Fade, Curtains, PageCurl, Liquid, RollDown, CenterCurls, BrunFilm, FlowMotion, PeelABCD, Ripple2D, Slide, Barn, Blinds, Curls, Lens, LightWipe, Wormhole, Stretch, Iris, Pixelate, Twister, ColorFade, Inset, RadialWipe, Wipe, Vacume, Water, Jaws, Wheel. The 3-D transforms in the Right column of the above site I could not even get to diepplay in Internet Explorer so don’t know how they look No you do not have to get all the above effects setup and working, as long as you get a few that can be switched between I should be able to add the rest. CONTINUES - ## Deliverables Continued from above Some other Links that demo it (in Internet Explorer though :( ) - [login to view URL] If you get an error in Internet Explorer trying to view the images/effects or the sample is blank ie nothing happens it means you do not have the above mentioned DLL file copied to your system folder and registered. If so see this link [login to view URL] for the fix. I have downloaded current DirectAnimation SDK's and there is no mention of using these transforms that I can find and it seems Microsoft never supported the use of the transforms (atleast not in VB) they once liscensed from Metacreations. This project is for my own personal use - I have no intention of marketing any code should I ever get the thing working. From my research it seems some VB Active X control to the DAViewer object using ClassID;s to the metacreations Class ID's would have to be in the code along with a DAControl Start and stop between pictures load the next set and start the control again. It is also important that the window that displays the JPG be run full screen without any title bars and that any images that are larger than the screen size be reduced to screen size without too much delay in execution and without much noticable image degragation. I know VB6's image or picture box will cause color banding noise when an image is reduced and I don’t think you could use those for DirectAnimation Metacreation transforms anyway. I believe you would have to use the DAViewerControlWindowed1 control and hopefully it has a tranform or method to reduce a picture without messing it up If not you maybe could create your own resample routine - but if done in native VB code it will be to slow. If the only stumbling block is reducing images without noise I could perhaps live without that part. It would be nice to be able to control the speed of the effects easily in my code especially if varying CPU speed effect the transitions speed. The program should be writtien in simplest form and does not have to be polished at all - just so the functions work so I can incorporate the code in my project. If the Transfrom portion cannot be done or done well in VB perhaps you could do a wrapper in C that can be called from VB like adding in your own ocx object that can be called from VB6. To save you the trouble of figuring out what to bid or waste too much of your time I will inform you up front that I am looking to spend no more than $300. A coder with experience in this area might could throw such code together in a short time - assuming it can be done in VB6 at all. The Text File listing Pictures to show would be the simple file called [login to view URL] and the text line within would be C:\Folder\Long Picture [login to view URL] C:\Folder\Long Picture [login to view URL] ChangeEffectTo-BurnFilm C:\Other Folder\Long Picture [login to view URL] ChangeEffectTo-Fade Etc *FYI the actual paths I will use will be UNC names like \\EC\C\Pictures\Family\20021012001 Jesse at the [login to view URL] and the folders paths will change during the show. * And there could be over 50,000 listed jpg's so don’t bother with an array or list box just read in direct from the file one or two at a time do the show and get the next file and append it to the show. Can chage effects by hitting a key or optionally from a special line in the above txt file as shown above At the bottom of the following page [login to view URL] is a nice and simple Direct Animation VB Sample that works - But no mention of using the MetaCreation transforms. Well out of space (again) - If you are interested see attached zip file for the full details. I would need all source code but do not need copyright info or install routines. Thanks - Dave ## Platform Windows XP, VB6
