Custom Pricing Rules Integration across WooCommerce Multistore with meta field export

Our WooCommerce store currently has over 200 products across 7 different stores managed by the WooCommerce Multistore plugin. Each store receives products and categories from the parent store, but due to the custom pricing feature, the prices in each store will vary. Currently there is no custom pricing functionality implemented. We need the ability to flexibly set custom pricing rules that apply percentage or fixed markup adjustments. It should be not on product level, but on a custom rule basis. These custom prices should be reflected accurately across all relevant pages. Additionally, the pricing rules applied must be exported for reporting. Functional Requirements • Create an administrative interface within the WordPress dashboard to allow store managers to define custom pricing rules. There should be options to apply rules globally or scope them to certain product categories, tags, or specific products. The markup rules should support both percentage increases and fixed dollar amounts. We anticipate needing the ability to create numerous pricing rules across our stores. Therefore, the UI should facilitate easily adding new rules, organizing existing ones, and setting relative priorities or hierarchy amongst the rules. • When customers are viewing products, adding items to the cart, and proceeding through checkout, the custom pricing rules should automatically apply any appropriate markups and calculate the adjusted prices shown. This should handle both simple and complex products correctly. Under no circumstances should the customer see a price change occur; the custom prices should be reflected consistently across the site. Performance should also be considered when applying pricing rules, to avoid delays on page loads. • To surface the custom prices, all relevant templates must be modified across catalog, product, cart, and checkout pages. Any locations showing prices should be updated to override with the markup amounts calculated by the pricing rules engine. This should happen contextually as a customer navigates the store. Both front-end and back-end views should be tuned to expect adjusted pricing. Care must be taken to apply rules appropriately for both logged-in and guest customers. • In order to report on the specific custom pricing rules used for orders, significant customization needs to be done on the export process. TheMultistore parent order exporter must be enhanced to output a new column in the CSV showing the pricing rule applied to each purchased product. This should intelligently handle variable and grouped products. Additional data manipulation may be required to relate adjusted pricing information across order items within the export. Technical Requirements • The custom pricing rules functionality should be developed as a set of plugins leveraging the WooCommerce and Multistore extensions frameworks. While building natively is an option, existing plugins like ELEX Dynamic Pricing can potentially be used as a starting point to speed development, as long as custom export capabilities are not compromised. The architecture and workflow for rule definition, application, storage, and retrieval should follow WordPress best practices. Custom database tables, object caching, transients, and other optimizations should be implemented to ensure high performance at scale across large catalogs and complex rules. • Templating overrides, hooks, functions and widgets should be used to adjust display of pricing across all front-end store templates and back-end views. Rules should be applied contextually based on categories, products, and other parameters. Standalone functions for calculating prices dynamically should be reusable in templates and exporters. Any modifications required to core WooCommerce or Multistore behavior should be done carefully and selectively to limit downstream issues. Unit and integration tests need to be written to validate pricing adjustments happen as expected across use cases. • A custom parent exporter class needs to be built leveraging hooks made available by Multistore. This should subclass the core exporter and introduce additional data manipulation methods required for the pricing rules data. It must take into account variations, refunds, taxes and other order complexities when relating rules used to products. All standard export content must remain intact while appending the new pricing data. Export performance should be assessed for large order volumes. A staging instance will be given.
