Looking for a high quality UX specialist to help with site map design and workflow of sites/pages. We are in the process of creating several websites that are web apps to help other nonprofits raise awareness and raise donations for their causes. We will let all 1.5 million nonprofits in the U.S. use them for a small admin fee, and we will let nonprofits helping the poorest half of people in the world and environmental nonprofits use them for free to generate donations. Your work will truly be meaningful and have a significant impact on helping others. We came up with several great fundraising ideas, and rather than keep them to ourselves, we're going to let the other 1.5 million nonprofits use them too. Rather than all nonprofits building each tool from scratch themselves, we're building them, and sharing them for a fee to cover our costs and let us create new ones. We need someone who can: • Analyze the goals of the new websites we want to create, consider who the users would be, and either choose a site map/navigation/workflow or assess what our team has drafted. • For individual pages, figure out the goals of the page, and the needs users will probably have. Then choose what elements/features/fields should go on the page. • Figure out the order of items on the page, and a rough layout, so that users have a natural and intuitive workflow. • Develop UI choices for a variety of details such as radio buttons versus checkboxes versus pulldowns depending on the page and the user task involved. For all steps, you will need to put yourself in the shoes of members of the public visiting our sites, and evaluate what would be ideal UX to engage and inspire them. • Write or edit most or all of the UX related text such as success messages and basic site instructions. • Possibly do user testing, or we might have someone else do that. This role will not involve graphic design. Many of the designers we're considering for doing the graphic design of several websites we're creating aren't highly skilled in all of the above areas or don't have mastery of English. If you are highly skilled at all the areas above and already applied for our previously posted UX Designer position, don't re-apply here too. If you are highly skilled at the above areas, and are also highly skilled at website graphic design, then apply for the UX Designer gig instead, [login to view URL] Likewise, if you're not highly skilled at all of the above areas, but are at web design, then apply for the other gig. We use the minimal viable product (MVP), pretotyping and minimal usable design (MUD) approaches to website creation. You will do a variety of pages from a simple login page to a complex front page that introduces the main themes. Our UX process will be: 1) UX specialist develops site map design, workflow of sites and workflow/content/text details of pages. 2) Web designer creates pretotype mockups of pages with MUD, and we get initial feedback from a small number of people. 3) After designer improves the best, we test the improved pretotypes with larger numbers of people to find out what the best are. 4) Have web developers turn the best into MVP sites that are real sites and launch them. 5) UX specialist and web designer add additional features and pages to the sites that do the best. 6) Use the admin fees from the best ones to do steps 1-5 for new ideas that we and our volunteers come up with. Please only apply if you're an individual, or if, for example, you're the co-owner of a small company of less than 8 people and you or 1-2 of your staff members will be the only ones working for us. We want to form an ongoing relationship with someone who knows our approaches. Position is virtual so open on location, and 95% will be done through email. If you have a website, resume/portfolio and/or LinkedIn page, please provide those links when responding. Also provide your hourly rate.
