HOT TUBS
When I think of ‘hot tubs’, I immediately think of Sheldon’s quote from the TV show, The Big Bang Theory, in response to one of the other character’s opening statements of a salacious hot tub anecdote:
‘Was it a Jacuzzi or a hot tub?’ He asks innocently, his need for clarification overwhelming his meagre thirst for any libidinous details.
He goes on the clarify that a Jacuzzi is a commercial brand; hot tub is the generic term, i.e. all Jacuzzis are hot tubs, but, not all hot tubs are Jacuzzis’.
This was actually news to me. I know that there are several ways to soak away your tension. To me, they are the epitome of luxury and self-indulgence. One day, when I have built my dream house, my generic spa will adorn the area near my patio, preferably affording a stunning view of crashing waves and a dying sunset.
I am also sensitive, however, to its healing properties. Hydrotherapy has become a huge adjunct in the treatment of many diseases such as muskulo-skeletal complaints, chronic pain and depression, to name but a few. I don’t believe the Turks and Romans can be wrong about many things! There is something so primal about our relationship with water. But, with a hot tub, that can be married to the height of sophistication. The juxtaposition of a chilly breeze breeze and balmy bubbles is man’s triumph of enjoying this wonderful natural world, with a touch of class. I cannot wait for my dream house.
